This one was special to me. My client brought me

This one was special to me.

My client brought me this Vintage Yamaha that was his Dads, who had recently passed. It was in rough shape and really needed a new Nut, saddle, setup, a little fretwork and new strings.

I was determined to do everything humanly possible to make this guitar absolutely perfect, especially after losing my Dad years ago and not being able to fix his old Ovation.

I was grateful for the trust of my client and happy to be able to pay respect to his Father.

Here here a Vintage Gibson that came in awhile back that had a partial refret gone bad, jacked up bone nut and a saddle that way way too low.

Original owner bought this out of high school and hadn’t touched it in 10 years because “it made him sick to look at the work that had previously been done to it” needless to say I felt for the guy.

Full Refret with the proper size fretwire, new bone nut and saddle and a fresh set of Stringjoy strings and this thing plays like a dream and sounds just as amazing.

This guitar came in needing a setup and the action lowered. Unfortunately the sale is glued in on this era of this particular model. I’ll never understand why anyone would do something like that but no matter! It’s all finished up now and it sounds even better than it looks! This is the first Martin to cross my bench that I was just shocked at how good it sounds.

First Custom design from scratch build, Reynolds Guitars presents
“The Variant” (Loki reference) I decided to call this lineup The Variant because it’s a mash up of my favorite things from all the builds we know and love. This is a 25.5” Scale Length neck with a large C shape, jumbo 6100 frets, 12” radius, MOP dots, Ebony slab fretboard on a roasted quartersawn maple neck with my custom headstock shape built by @musikraftusa , the body is Tempered Pine, finish courtesy of @bloomdoom22 , done in a classy Daphne Blue Nitro. The pickups are @kleinpickupsllc “The Limited” Telecaster Bridge with the Epic 69’ Strat neck and middle pickups, I had him custom wind these to aesthetically match the White String Wind on the Bridge pickup and I think they look absolutely fantastic. The rest of the build is Switchcraft 5-way, Vintage Inspired 250k+ pots, Fralin Blend pot, vintage NOS .068uF Topical Fish Capacitor, single ply matte black Pickguard, and @masterybridge Telecaster bridge! Kluson Supreme tuners, Callaham Vintage style string tree, hand cut bone nut, Callaham flush string ferrules, oversized strap buttons.

Total weight is 6lb 6oz!

Hope you guys like it! I’ll be making more of these a different scale length with different pickup configurations and hardware selections so keep your eyes peeled!! Let me know what you guys think!

Plays like butter and sounds amazing. Very stoked on this one!

Check out this rad 50’s Baritone Oahu Ukulele that came in a while back. Someone had put steel strings on the bass side and left them on and it pulled the bridge up and badly twisted it. This one came off fairly easily but was very warped, I figured if I could get it flat again I would reuse it. I clapped it to a flat steel leveling bar and slowly heated it and added a bit of mist of water from a spray bottle from time to time to see if I couldn’t get it to lay flat again. After a few days I had it almost perfectly flat. It went back on and you might not ever know it was repaired if I didn’t tell you 😉

72’ Reissue MIJ @Fender Stratocaster. This came in needing a set up and a little bit of fret work, the customer also wanted all electronics and pickguard/plastics. Fully equipped with @seymourduncanpickups Psychedelic Stratocaster set, @stringjoy 10/48 balanced set. New CTS pots, NOS Tropical Fish Ceramic Capacitor, CTS Blender put for the second tone pot, I was able to resist the original 5 way switch. Other than that it’s all new under the hood! Looks amazing but sounds and plays even better! Happy #straturday my friends!

Absolutely killer guitar, just finished a full set up on it, cleaned and conditioned the boards polished the frets set the action and intonation, made sure I liked the nut slot height, intonated on the trusty old Conn St-11 Strobotuner , top out off with my favorite strings @stringjoy 10/52’s,l. The stock pickups sound great but I’ve got a set of @lindyfralin.pickups AlNiCo Pole Dog Ear P90’s with raw nickel covers on the way! Can’t wait, might throw a Faber bridge and tailpiece on it you know just for fun 😉

This is a really gorgeous @paulreedsmithguitars that got a new set of @seymourduncanpickups P-Rails and a set of 4 New Alpha Pots and all new wiring. The customer wanted to be able to utilize the massive amount off combinations available so it required a custom wiring diagram. This thing is so versatile! I love it!

This is my personal @fendercustomshop Stratocaster in a stunning Aged Firemist Silver finish! It originally had a different neck on it but I had a Roasted Fender Custom Shop Neck that I preferred so I swapped them out. The electronics are also different. I prefer this set up on my Strat to allow more bass and treble through to signal, I feel personally that this gives me more clarity obviously more bass and treble but also makes the Tone knob much more useful. The pickguard is a genuine Celluloid Nitrate Pickguard.

Pickups ✔️ Bridge ✔️ Location of electronics ✔️ Next up I’ve got to order some more parts to continue the build @stewmac_guitar Fretboard, truss rod, frets, pickguard material, pilot reamer for truss rod and that will get me through the next couple steps. After I get the truss rod rooted and installed I’ll glue up the fingerboard and get a better idea of the exact location for the bridge and pickups. Then we’ll go from there!

What’s on your bench?! This “Lawsuit” era Takamine came in needing a new saddle and a partial Re-Fret. This had been toured with extensively and hadn’t seen a proper Luthier in many years. Frets 1-8 were so badly worn I couldn’t do a fret level and crown and they were going to have to be replaced.
So Frets 1-8 were replaced and a newer style bone saddle with compensated b string slot was hand cut and shaped for it and also the pickup was loose on the bass side.
Everything came together nicely I was able to match the fret wire almost exactly. The customer of happy and it sounds and plays great!

After owning and playing some very expensive guitars from some very amazing companies, I knew I could build a better Strat or Tele from parts and spend a whole lot less money in the process. So I made the decision to sell them and build my own with special attention to each and every part I used, customized to exactly the specs I wanted. After lots of experimenting with hundreds of parts, pickups, capacitors, tuners, and spending thousands of dollars and countless hours over numerous years. I finally have been able to create something special and meaningful that sounded amazing and played flawlessly. Let me help you so you don’t have to make all the costly mistakes I’ve made over the years chasing the tone in my head. After all the guitar isn’t one magic piece it’s a sum of many pieces working together to make something special.
So Let’s build your #dreamguitar together! If you have an idea for a build or just need some advice on parts I would love to be a part of your journey!

*After spending a few years doing Guitar repair and building Partscasters as a hobby for me and my friends. I decided to make Luthiery more than a hobby.
